Waypoint Shooting School provides complete firearms education for all levels of students, from prospective gun owners to experienced shooters. We prioritize safety, confidence, and proficiency. Students will receive effective instruction and techniques to self-diagnose and identify areas of improvement. Those that are eager to learn more will receive personal guidance as they seek to expand their knowledge and skills.

Advanced Handgun

Test your capabilities with an intensive course that sharpens your skills.  Learn with others in a safe and fun environment that will challenge your technical proficiency and mental discipline. While course topics are flexible and pace is variable to best accommodate a spectrum of skill levels, it is required that you have prior shooting experience. This is not a beginner course.

Advance your shooting performance

Challenging courses of fire will expose weaknesses in your shooting skill-set. Technical discussion of shooting topics will reinforce your knowledge base and deepen your understand of marksmanship, mechanics, and movement.

Students will be actively involved in the learning process, testing the techniques they learn through various exercises and assessments. Students will be given methods of self-diagnosis to increase capabilities. Receive one-on-one coaching and performance tracking data to help prioritize areas of improvement for every skill level.

Student Requirements: Must be able to understand and apply firearms safety concepts.  Concealed Handgun License or proof of previous experience. Must have at least a basic exposure to the following points of performance

  • Drawing from the holster
  • Marksmanship 
  • Mechanics (reloads, malfunction clearances)
  • Moving safely with a gun.

Prerequisites: ( you must take these courses or an equivalent before any Advanced handgun class) Contact us for questions regarding your eligibility to take an advanced course! Prerequisites are in place to ensure safety and a learning environment conducive to growth. You do not have to be an all star shooter, however you should feel confident around a gun and familiar with the class environment. The below classes build the solid base of shooting skills requied.

This short video will show you the things you need to bring for class or a range trip. Having the right gear will keep you safe and focused.

Equipment Required:

  • Practical handgun desired for personal use (bring a backup gun if you have one)
  • Minimum 500Rounds of ammo (750 recommended)
  • Rigid holster that safely retains handgun while moving and maintains shape when empty
  • Stiff belt capable of supporting handgun weight
  • Spare mags  (one in gun, two on body reloads)
  • Notebook and pen/marker
  • Eye and Ear Protection designed for shooting

Equipment Recommended:

  • Food and water for a full day outside
  • Sunscreen, insect repellent
  • Ball cap or hat, sturdy footwear
  • Shot timer
  • Smartphone for video recording and digital note taking
  • Personal first aid/trauma kit

Be Prepared for:

  • Training outside in any weather
  • Day length of 7-10 hours
  • Moderate physical exertion (standing and kneeling, short quick bursts of movement, light running)
  • Self and group evaluation while working  around others with a commitment to learning
